In Response To: Stearns & Foster (Dave)
I have some input on Stearns and Foster that I would like to share.
After my bad experience with Restonics, I read and researched until my eyes crossed...even though my husband wanted a Stress-o-pedic Chateau St. Michele, I thought that a Stearns and Foster would be a better choice. Double tempered steel springs, quality construction, yada yada. I read that the mattresses were rated in levels, the smaller the number, the less foam and fufu was in the bed. Deducting that the foam is the quickest thing to go, I figured that going with the least possible that was still comfortable was the was my best bet. I could buy a mattress topper that would give more cush, that was replaceable.
So, spent $1850 on a level 2 bed, a Bruno Clair(aka Hearthstone), CA king, mattress and boxspring. It lasted exactly as long as the Restonics...2 1/2 months, before getting saggy under my hips, and my husband's whole torso. Bed looks great, but the foam died.
I followed the warranty procedure, someone came out, said bed looked just fine, no go. Looks fine, but YOU TRY SLEEPING ON IT!!!!
So, Stearns and Foster as it turns out, is owned by Sealy, and is not the quality bed it was when it was privately owned. It is just a name, and the quality is not there. warranty is worth nada.
I am either going to have this bed re-foamed by a private company, or finally buy a Stress-O-Pedic. My sister did buy a Chateau Ste. Michele and loves it. No body impressions after 4+ months.
