Spring Air matress

My last matress was a Spring Air and I wasn't happy with it at all. But I'm not sure if that's my fault or Spring Air's. The mattress was extremely soft, which is what I was looking for. However, within a year it began to make my back hurt and grooves began to develop where I slept. I don't know if this because Spring Air didn't make it very good or because that's just the nature of really soft mattresses.
